How to Import a PPT Into Google Slides, PDF and Docs

One .pptx file, three formats — a clear step-by-step guide.

You have built your presentation. Now you need to share it. Sometimes that means a Google Slides link, sometimes a printable PDF, sometimes the content in a Word document. Here is how to do all three.

Importing into Google Slides

  1. Open Google Drive
  2. Click New → File upload and select your .pptx
  3. Once uploaded, right-click the file and choose Open with → Google Slides
  4. Slides, colours, layout and most animations carry across
  5. Use the Share button to generate a link for anyone

Note: Google Slides supports basic entrance animations and transitions. A few advanced PowerPoint effects get simplified, but the presentation still runs properly.

Exporting to PDF

From Google Slides: File → Download → PDF Document (.pdf)

From PowerPoint: File → Export → Create PDF/XPS → Publish, or File → Save As and choose PDF.

Tip: For printing, use handout layout — in PowerPoint choose Print → "3 Slides" instead of Full Page Slides, and you get ruled lines for notes.

Getting content into Google Docs or Word

  1. From Google Slides: File → Download → Plain Text (.txt), then paste into Google Docs
  2. From PowerPoint: File → Export → Create Handouts → Microsoft Word → choose a layout → OK
  3. For speaker notes: in PowerPoint go to View → Notes Page, then export that to PDF or Word

On mobile

The Google Slides app opens .pptx files directly. Tap the file in the Drive app and choose "Open with Google Slides" — you can edit and present straight from your phone.

The easiest route

GenMasterAI produces a standard .pptx that imports cleanly into all three workflows without formatting breaking.
